Karen Wiser began working with The Law Offices of James A. H. Bell in 2009.  Ms. Wiser serves as the firm’s senior legal assistant in the civil department. She has over twenty years experience in plaintiff and defense work with extensive trial assistance. She has worked at many of the large firms in Knoxville.

She began her legal career in 1989 as the receptionist at Sid Gilreath & Associates and within a year, was promoted to assist three plaintiff medical malpractice attorneys, one of which was an M.D.  During her time at that firm, she worked on a toxic tort case in Kentucky with over 500 plaintiffs, which was resolved prior to trial.  That experience equipped Ms. Wiser to manage and maintain large client bases.

Ms. Wiser’s responsibilities at The Law Offices of James A. H. Bell include initial client contact, screening cases, file management, document preparation, and working on each civil client’s file with a personal connection to the clients.  Ms. Wiser acts as a liaison between the insurance companies and the attorneys, working towards an amicable resolution of the matter, which sometimes includes settlement of the case before litigation ensues.  Ms. Wiser assists the in-house investigator in locating witnesses and potential parties to the lawsuits.

Ms. Wiser has numerous friends and professional relationships in the legal community with both plaintiff and defense attorneys as well as their staff, which enables our lawyers to quickly and efficiently move the business of the cases along the legal path towards a successful conclusion of the case.
