Edward L. Holt, Jr.
Mr. Holt was born and raised in Morristown, Tennessee, and is a graduate of Morristown West High School. He is a veteran of the United States navy where he served on the USS John C. Calhoun (SSBN-630), a nuclear powered fleet ballistic missile submarine. In addition, he also served as an MP in the United States Marine Corps. Reserve.
He was a police officer in Bartlett, Tennessee for over six years, obtaining the rank of sergeant and has also served as an Assistant Director of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation where he supervised that agency’s statewide drug investigation division.
Mr. Holt obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Memphis State University in 1982, and his law degree from the University of Tennessee in 1990.
Mr. Holt is an experienced trial attorney and served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Tennessee for eight years successfully prosecuting a number of high profile, multi-state drug conspiracies.
He has also served as a staff attorney for the Tennessee office of Inspector General, and was in private law practice in Murfreesboro, Tennessee for several years with the law firm of Mitchell and Mitchell, where he was involved exclusively in defending individuals charged with violating state or federal criminal law.
Mr. Holt is admitted to practice in all state courts in Tennessee, the United States District Courts for Eastern and Middle Tennessee, the United States District Courts for Arizona and South Carolina, and the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
